Eugene Atget (1857-1927) photographed Paris between 1888 and 1927. He
produced a remarkable body of work - about 10,000 photographs that
document Paris at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th.
At the beginning of the 21st century, Paris is still Paris, but it is not the
Paris of Atget. The degree of difference, and of similarity, is clear from
juxtaposing Atget's photographs with modern photographs taken from
the same perspective. |
